Exhibition at la Maison du Passementier

8 March 2014

expoTissages autour du globe

Since the end of January 2014, there is an exhibition called “Tissages autour du globe, voyage des identités” (“Weaving around the globe, travel of identities”) which has opened at La Maison du Passementier in Saint-Jean-Bonnefonds, France. This museum-workshop located in the Rhône-Alpes area is a place showing traditional trimmings  and jacquard woven ribbon works. This space also offers attractive temporary exhibitions on textile topics.

If you happen to be in the area, I warmly encourage you to go see this exhibition that has just started which shows weaving traditions and techniques from all over the world. You will have the opportunity to discover the tremendous diversity of textiles approaches and traditional costumes, whether they come from Africa, Asia, South America or Europe. My project World Textiles & Artisans is also present, with the Burkina Faso video “The Gafreh women” and a photos series on Cambodia’s golden silk.

I also would like to thank Marianne Fournier, head of La Maison du Passementier, for her curiosity and interest towards my project and her idea to incorporate it in the “Weaving around the globe” show. It is a pleasure to be part of it!
