La Tisserie<\/strong><\/a> is a museum located in Branderion, near the city of\u00a0Lorient in South Brittany, France. The site has just reopened and offers\u00a0a brand new exhibition exploring the textile know-how around the world.<\/p>\n

From South America to Africa, and to Asia, La Tisserie takes you on a journey from one continent to another. In the way of a colorful and generous travelogue, the visit helps\u00a0tracing back over traditional weaving through a series of large format photographs, didactic\u00a0videos and playful manipulations.<\/p>\n

The center\u00a0is therefore showcasing the whole process of manual fabric. You will\u00a0first learn about natural fibers from animal to vegetal origins, and\u00a0the spinning process to\u00a0change\u00a0raw material into yarn. You\u00a0then dive\u00a0into pigments and color with natural dyes, and finally learn about handweaving technique. Each particular loom offers endless weaving possibilities and each fabric shows the characteristic colors and patterns\u00a0from\u00a0their\u00a0area traditions. The program also\u00a0offers activities held at\u00a0La\u00a0Tisserie to design\u00a0and explore different techniques, for creative curious people of all ages.<\/p>\n

La\u00a0Tisserie is also broadcasting a\u00a0World Textiles &\u00a0Artisans<\/strong>\u00a0video from the\u00a0Cambodia stories :\u00a0“Thea, the natural\u00a0dyes.”<\/em><\/a> I was also part of the museographic\u00a0committee during the new exhibition conception.<\/p>\n
