The textile stories of Cambodia<\/a> are published on the website! Discover the portraits of Kikuo Morimoto<\/a> and his Institute for Khmer textiles, the weaving trainer Neakru<\/a> from Banteay Chmar, or Thea<\/a> who handles the natural dyes in Phnom Penh.<\/p>\n

As a bonus, I am presenting you the beautiful Khmer crafts house called Artisans d’Angkor<\/a><\/strong>, based in Siem Reap. During my trip, I had the chance to visit the training center and the Silk Farm located in Puok, a few kilometers from the city.<\/p>\n

Artisans d’Angkor<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0carries a social project and has been created in 1992. It aims to perpetuate all the craft skills from the traditional Khmer culture: stone and wood carving, lacquering, gilding … And silk! Young crafts people between 18 and 25 years old, coming from rural communities are recruited and then trained in the Chantiers-Ecoles\u00a0for Professional Training.<\/p>\n

The Silk Farm shows the whole process of silk, since the breeding of silkworms, how to obtain the yarn, the dyeing and weaving process. The success of this firm is a great demonstration, with the refinement and beauty of their products coming from their workshops, but also as a model of professional development and training. There are over 2,500 young people who have been trained in the last 10 years.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n
